Siren Song

It's been a while since I've posted an update here. Let's see. Well...

Norwescon was fantastic. A very enjoyable con all around. As always, I immersed myself in the great music to be found there. Last year, the concom gave renewed special attention to the Filk track, spearheaded by the wonderful Runnerwolf. This year, the filking was just as good, thanks again to her continued efforts and dedication.

I only have one photo from Norwescon, which I took during one of the con's high points: The Joss Whedon Sing-Along. The room was packed, and it was a real treat to hear the entire room singing along with Vixy's Mal's Song.

One of the best things about Norwescon was discovering that, with a little help from New Skin, I could play an entire weekend's worth of filk with a nasty cut on my main fretting finger. Big thanks go out to all my LJ friends who suggested it. And my apologies to everyone sitting near me at the con who had to put up with a smell similar to model airplane glue as I applied multiple layers of it before each performance.

Coming up, we've got two, count 'em, two "Vixy and Tony" gigs:
The album that Vixy and I are making is coming along nicely. The recording that Kristoph made of Vixy's Siren Song sounds fantastic, and it's definitely going on the album. We should also be able to plow forward with four more songs in the next few weeks. Finally, there are also top-secret plans afoot to (hopefully) add some fantastic new musicians to the project; we're crossing our fingers.

Monkey Brains Studios is going to be playing host to a few different local filkers for brief sessions coming up soon. I've agreed to the projects, now it's time for me to actually knuckle down and schedule real dates.

Finally, a little bit of Coulton love: It seems that Jeff Goldblum can be heard quoting him recently. Very cool!
