Free Half Life 2
Valve Software has just released The Orange Box. It includes the following games:
- Half Life 2
- Half Life 2: Episode One
- Half Life 2: Episode Two
- Portal
- Team Fortress 2
Of course, like most people who'd buy Orange Box, I already own:
- Half Life 2
- Half Life 2: Episode One
But pre-ordering Orange Box was easier than getting the other three individually, and it let me participate in the TF2 beta.
So. For the billions of people in my position who have just bought two of those games twice, Valve says they will let us gift the second copy of those two already-owned games to someone else. Rather a clever marketing tactic, really, if you think about it. Get a whole new audience hooked on the Half Life series all over again.
Anyone want them? They are two of the best FPS games EVER.
Note: You'll need a fairly beefy Windows PC to run them, a broadband internet connection to download them (they are huge), and you'll need to install the Steam software and create an account for it.
PS: A Jonathan Coulton song is part of Portal. Awesome. Haven't played it yet, intend to tonight.
