Consonance 2006

Consonance is upon us! This upcoming weekend, in fact. I'm really looking forward to it, and looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful people there again. I'm especially looking forward to seeing Puzzlebox perform again. In addition to the con, I'll be helping Seanan McGuire with guitar and vocal tracks for her upcoming album. We'll be doing the recording at Kristoph Klover's studio, and I'm excited that I'll get the chance to see how Stoph works.

The San Francisco Chronicle just published this article about Consonance, and used my photo of the Bohnhoffs to accompany it (with permission of course). I think Camper did a great job on the article, giving a good picture of Filk for those who haven't experienced it before.

I've also just made final arrangements to attend my first FilKONtario at the beginning of April. I'm very excited about seeing new and old friends, and finally getting to see Urban Tapestry again after far too many years.

It would be so wonderful to see you and A2 there. I wish you two could come.

Me too! Think you'll have a chance sometime to go when your school thing doesn't interfere?

I noticed GeekHackFilk.com (http://www.geekhackfilk.com)
s hiatus. What is missing is how you wound up in Seattle.

Well, the web site's hiatus, interestingly, had nothing to do with the move to Seattle. I was settled in here long before the web site went down. The web site thing was a simple case of SBC screwing over my host guy. The reasons behind the geography change, on the other hand, were deliberately not put on the web site.

Sniffle. Miss you guys. Miss Consonance LOTS (I've been to ALL of them since 2001!). You guys throw me a con for my birthday EVERY YEAR, and now I can't even be there for it.

See you at FKO, though. :-> Plus, your guestslate is (I kid you not) basically Capricon all over again; Marty ran our filk, Peter was our author GoH, Roper's chairing next year ...

For the record, my little sisters ([livejournal.com profile] educk and [livejournal.com profile] kougraducky) are desperate fangirls of the Donation CD, and the two of you in general (as described by me, and off a few of my scratchy convention recordings). :-> You're role models already!

But... But... I thought you were coming down for Seanan's recording. I was really looking forward to seeing you, and playing you all the new Jonathan Coulton songs I learned.

Money's not there for flying (since my 'basic con ticket' has gone from ~$80 to ~210), and it's too far to drive reasonably. I'm carpooling it up to FKO, most likely, though.

And OOOOOOOH Jonathan Coulton! I know all the backup vocals to his 'Baby Got Back!'

I haven't worked up Baby Got Back since that one's mostly about the production. I've learned a few of his original songs: Skullcrusher Mountain, Chiron Beta Prime, and Mandelbrot Set.
