| FilKONtario was fantastic! Urban Tapestry, Chris Conway, and the new, improved full Ookla the Mok lineup were absolutely fantastic. Vixy and I debuted our new song Thirteen, and it was a big hit. Photos and video from the convention are here. I'm also trying a new method of saving the videos that should result in much smaller file sizes without much quality loss. Check them out. YYZ, on the other hand, was a big disappointment. A very disorganized and uncomfortable airport all around. After landing, our airplane sat unmoving on the tarmac for about 30 minutes while we waited for someone (anyone!) to come to our gate and roll the gantry up to the airplane. This was followed by another 30 minute wait at baggage claim while we waited for someone to fetch the bags from the cargo hold. But the best part of the con was what happened on Sunday. Judith Hayman had said some cryptic things to Vixy on Saturday, about guest appearances at other cons, and she wasn't sure what to make of it until Judith cornered us on Sunday and offered us... GUESTS OF HONOR AT FILKONTARIO 2008 ! We accepted, and they announced it at the end of the con, during the closing ceremonies. Wow! I'm so honored, we both are. Between this, and the Interfilk guest appearance at OVFF 2006, it's just been the most amazing year. Thank you, Judith and Dave, and the entire FKO concom, for making this happen. Quick clarification: For those who didn't catch it, Vixy and I will be the GOH's at FilKONtario 2008, that is, two years from now. It's very rare to have a concom decide upon a guest that far in advance, but their scheduling for the N'early Music Consort in 2007 is done, and so they were looking ahead. Now we've got two years to finish Vixy's second album and prepare for it. Our next appearance will be in just over a week, at Norwescon, the weekend of April 14-16. We're going to be doing the Spooky Songs Sing-Along Friday night at 11, Vixy is doing a songwriting workshop at 4pm on Saturday, we have a concert at 7:30pm on Saturday, and we'll be in the jam session at 2pm on Sunday. And... you're welcome for the snaps. Although I have to say, I miss the kind of snapshots you did on the California trip, some of those were very nice. I tend to concentrate on the con itself, you got some nice tourist photos.
