Wish You Were Here
| FilKONtario has been awesome. The very last event, the dead dog, is happening as I write this. We're here in a huge room with a balcony around the edges in a giant multi-layered circle of chairs trading songs, and we'll be this way pretty much all night. Just a moment ago, Daniel started playing Wish You Were Here, and I hurriedly put down the laptop, grabbed my guitar and joined in with the solos. The FilKONtario concom and staff have been amazing and wonderful, and Vixy and I have felt welcomed, at home, catered to, pampered, and treated like royalty. We are so very grateful for this wonderful weekend they've made for us. Our concert went flawlessly. (I know this because Rand told us so.) The whole convention was there, and the energy was electric. The feedback loop was tangible. It was probably the most fun we've had onstage, ever. Vixy arranged some great Urban Tapestry-style signage gags that came off perfectly, probably due to the fact that we had Urban Tapestry doing the signage for us. Vixy even managed to bamboozle me in French, with the entire con's help, something that you just had to be there to understand. We brought 100 copies of Thirteen, mostly because we thought that Canadian customs might hassle us if we'd brought any more than that. Whether we'd done the right thing, or whether we'd just been lucky, I'm not sure, but the customs agent just waved us on through when we declared them. At first we were worried we'd brought too many discs. Then, as the stash began to dwindle, we were worried we'd brought too few. As it turns out, now, in the final hours of the con as I write this, we're down to six copies. In other words, we brought just the right amount. And wow... we just sold over 90 copies of our new album. With a con attendance of about 140, that means we sold a copy to more than half of the people at the con. Wow. We're so flattered. It was also wonderful to finally reunite with the Bedlam Bards, and we can't wait until we can do another Wayward gig together again. Status of various things: The official Vixy and Tony Web Site is up, though unfinished and still in beta. Our MySpace page is up and has six songs from Thirteen for your listening pleasure. CDBaby has received our albums, but it takes them some time before they can get the song samples ripped and the artwork scanned, so the CDBaby page isn't up just yet. When that's done, you'll be able to order the CD online, in physical form via CDBaby and in electronic form at the iTunes store. Hopefully this week. PS: Blind Lemming Chiffon just broke our brains by doing "I Am The Carpenter". You should be able to work it out from the title alone. "Eat one, eat one, everybody eat one..." The complete list of upcoming Vixy and Tony appearances is: Wayward Coffee House, Saturday, April 19, 2008, 8-10pm, Seattle, WA. How many copies should we bring? BayCon, Weekend of May 23, 2008, San Jose, CA. SpoCon, Weekend of August 1st, 2008, Spokane, WA. Consonance, Early March, 2009, San Jose, CA. We are the Guests of Honor! |
