Orycon!

Orycon starts tomorrow! Who's coming?

In addition to the Tricky Pixie concert on Friday night after the opening ceremonies, there's a great cluster of shows in the Columbia room (right next to the hotel registration desk) starting at 1pm on Saturday afternoon, including our friends Cecila Eng, Ash Productions, Skinny White Chick, and of course, us. Plans are to have a very special guest performer on a few of our songs, so don't miss this one!

Although the Orycon online schedule appears to be correct, there's a remote chance that the printed schedule might show Vixy & Tony at a panel on Friday afternoon that we're not going to be able to attend. I think what happened is that I emailed them saying that we wanted to be on the CD production panel, despite also having emailed them and told them that we weren't available on Friday afternoon. If this had been an old Star Trek episode, the Orycon scheduling computer would have had its CRT explode in a shower of sparks and smoke. Fortunately, technology has improved since then.

I don't think we put either of you on anything for Friday. We pretty much expect the Washington contingent to stagger in some time during Friday night's open filking, having just fought bad traffic for more hours than they planned. Only people not from Portland who get put on the Friday panels (they're reeeeely small, in case you haven't seen one) are the ones who explicitly say they'll be there.

This, for example, is why we tend to do the harmony workshops and such on Sunday rather than Friday. You'd think it would make more sense to do those first, so people could be warmed up and ready to practice singing. But if we did that, few people would be there to teach or learn.

That's good to hear. I'd seen other sources in the recent past that had us down for the Friday CD production panel, [livejournal.com profile] s00j even posted it in her livejournal as recently as yesterday, so I wanted to make sure there was a clear thing on our home page so as not to disappoint anyone hoping to come see me talk about the making of our recent album.

I think it's a basic rule of the universe that every con must have at least one panel which occurs (for whatever reason) either before at least one of the panelists arrives at the con or after they have left for home. A perfect schedule would cause a rip in the space/time fabric and altering of reality.
