Playing catch-up

It's been over three weeks since my last big public update here. Things in my life have been very amazing lately. I have a theory that the November election brought us all so much hope and positive energy that everyone is finding little miracles popping up all around them. That's certainly been the case for me and Vixy. It's been a happy but overwhelming time for us both.

Orycon was just beyond belief. Making music with Sooj, Betsy, and Alec, as well as Angelica and Athrylis, was an experience I'll never forget, and which I hope to repeat as many times as possible. Getting to see Fae Hollow and be present for part of the recording of the upcoming Tricky Pixie album was icing on the cake. So many great things happened that weekend that I can't begin to list them. Instead, I'll just post links to some of my favorite photos taken by our friends at the convention.

We can't wait for the end of January, when we get to see Sooj and her man K again. They're coming up for Faerieballs, and hopefully they'll be able to make the dead dog on Sunday night at Conflikt.

Speaking of which, have you registered for Conflikt yet? It's going to be fantastic. We've got Seanan there as our Guest of Honor, and if all goes well, Conflikt will be the release of her new album, Red Roses and Dead Things. She's still accepting preorders, too, make sure to order yourself a few copies for yourself and friends, so that she can afford to get this album pressed in time for the con. You won't regret it, this album will be fantastic. It's got Jeff Bohnhoff producing it, and Jeff and Maya and me and Vixy are all over it. Her show at Conflikt is not to be missed, she's coming up to Seattle over the Christmas holiday to visit and rehearse with the eleventy-billion amazing musicians that will be sharing the stage with her.

As for upcoming Vixy & Tony stuff, we've scheduled a house concert and a Wayward Coffeehouse concert, both in January, the 3rd and the 24th, respectively. Seanan will be joining us on the 3rd, which is a very special thing, so please come!

We're also still expecing that article in Seattle Metropolitan Magazine to appear at the end of this month, in the January issue (not the December "Music Issue" currently pictured at their web site, as far as I know). We're not sure how big it's going to be. It might be anything from a little blurb to a full-page spread, that's information they don't share with us. But it's going to be something at least, because they called us and did a bunch of fact-checking about our music, about Filk in general, and about Conflikt. We're crossing our fingers.

See you all in January!

I've been meaning to write something about all the wonderful music at OryCon, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Tricky Pixie was awesome (as always), and Alec's solo show reached, possibly even exceeded, his usual high standards. But I was *really* blown away by you and Vixy! It was my first time seeing you perform live, and you have incredible energy and talent! I also really enjoyed Ash Productions. They made me smile and laugh a lot, and their cover of "I'm Your Moon" (with their dedication) brought a tear to my eye. But since OryCon, my current favourite song is "The Girl That's Never Been."

Thanks so much! I don't recall if we got a chance to talk in person while at the con? I seem to remember, a couple weeks before the con, you said that this was going to be your first chance to see us live. I'm glad we didn't disappoint! :-)

I didn't get a chance to say hello. There was just too much going on, but no, you did quite the opposite of disappoint. You should come down to Portland to play sometime! (I know: I should get up to Seattle to see you sometime.)

Yeah yeah yeah we enjoyed you too1!1 ^_^

Orbviously.

Can hardly wait to see you at conflikt, should be a fun weekend, esp if I get to hang around in seattles after, but have not worked out ANY details regarding that yet, so who knows?

I'm glad you're coming to Conflikt! If you want to hang out in Seattle after the con, there's great stuff to do. We're sort of overloaded for people in the house, though, we've got Kanef and Seanan staying with us for some of the days surrounding the con. Would you have a place to crash?

[identity profile] slantiness.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea. As I said I haven't worked out any kinks yet. My reason for wanting to stay is...well, there are two actually. 1) if I leave when the wicks leave, I'll miss the dead dog...AGAIN....ugh. 2) I really want to film for my Companion music video and I never have the chance...I'd like to do it in Seattle.

(points Angelica to thread below, regarding places to stay)

I agree we should work this out, it would be great to have you around.

T, do we need to find Angelica a place to stay? This can happen. I can think of two households immediately that would happily help.

If she doesn't mind sleeping on a couch or air mattress, I third that offer.

Alright, awesome.
I happilly permit sooj people or torrey people to duke it out over putting me up---but beforehand I need to work out details with train, with the wicks, and with vixy/how, where and what to film.

Or, you know, in whichever order.

Squee, friends are neat ^_^
